CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (AFP) – Michael Phelps, starul echipei de natatie a SUA, a suferit prima sa infrangere intr-o cursa de campionat, sosind dupa Aaron Piersol in finala de 100M spate de la Charlotte UltraSwim.
Aaron Piersol, dublu campion olimpic la 100M spate si recordmen mondial in aceasta proba, a castigat cu 53:32, departe de recordul sau mondial de 52:54, urmat de Phelps cu 53:79.
“Trebuie sa-mi revin. Nu-mi place sa pierd. Nu conteaza cu cine concurez. Urasc sa pierd”(aprox) a spus Phelps care rar a infrant pe “nemesis” Aaron Piersol in probele de spate.
Ca fapt divers: de un an de zile, mai precis de pe 17 Mai 2008, cand a pierdut la Santa Clara in proba de 200m spate in fata aceluiasi Piersol, Phelps nu a mai pierdut alta finala la care a participat!
